It comes after the deputy prime minister tried to ban lawmakers from calling the country Aotearoa in parliament.

The aim is to address injustices of colonisation, including confiscating land from local tribes.

The country is seen as a world leader for supporting indigenous rights, but many fear that's now at risk.
