River Severn

Kirsty Walsh, whose husband died after falling in the River Severn in 2017, joined the patrols.

The Environment Agency issues flood warnings for the Severn in Shrewsbury and the River Vyrnwy.

Kirsty Walsh is patrolling Shrewsbury with West Mercia Search and Rescue throughout December.

The charity says without training and equipment, its winter patrols cannot go ahead.

It comes amid anxieties over a so-called "foam-berg" spotted in the water in Shrewsbury.

The work is being carried out at Round Hill Green Playfield in Shrewsbury by Severn Trent.

High-tech sensors have been installed in the River Severn, with the data available to the public.

The volunteers hope to raise enough to buy new suits, which they say are starting to fail.
