A powerful tornado killed at least 25 people in the US state of Mississippi, and one person in Alabama, leaving dozens more injured. The town of Rolling Fork was virtually flattened.

At least 38 people died at a migrant processing centre in Mexico in a fire that officials said started during a protest against deportations. Mexican authorities said the dead and injured included people from Guatemala, Honduras, Venezuela, El Salvador, Colombia and Ecuador.
