American artistic swimmer Anita Alvarez was rescued from the bottom of the pool after fainting at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest. Her coach, Andrea Fuentes, pulled her to the surface before the swimmer was taken away on a stretcher. USA Artistic Swimming said Alvarez was not allowed to compete on Friday because of international federation Fina's "athlete safety concerns".

South Korea successfully launched its first satellites into orbit, stepping up the country's ambitions in space. It was the second launch of the homegrown Korean Satellite Launch Vehicle II, known as Nuri, which took off from Goheung, about 500km (310 miles) south of Seoul.
