Worker injured in fall at dairy complex near Lockerbie
Arla FoodsA 61-year-old man has been taken to hospital after being injured at Arla Foods' dairy complex near Lockerbie, BBC Scotland News understands.
It is believed that two workers fell into an effluent storage facility while working at the treatment plant on Thursday afternoon.
One man was taken to hospital by ambulance and is awaiting surgery on a large wound to his arm.
In a statement, Arla Foods said: ''Two workers slipped during a routine task in the effluent plant area of the site. One colleague sustained a cut to his arm, which required minor medical attention.''
The company added: ''The health and safety of our colleagues is always our utmost priority, and a full investigation will be carried out."
Arla Foods is the largest dairy co-operative in the UK and recently completed a £34m upgrade to the cheddar production plant at the Lockerbie factory.
