Man dead after being hit by lorry in town centre
Rob Smith/BBCA 72-year-old man has died after being hit by an articulated lorry, police have said.
The incident took place at about 10:30 GMT earlier on Broad Street in Halifax, close to the crossroads junction with Orange Street, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed the lorry was a DAF vehicle and a 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.
A force spokesperson said: "The collision is being investigated by the Major Collision Enquiry Team who are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them."
They added that anyone with dashcam footage should also come forward.
