Fire at empty factory believed to be arson
PA MediaA fire at a derelict factory in Nottinghamshire is believed to have been started deliberately, investigators have said.
Firefighters were called to the building in Hawton Lane, Balderton, near Newark, at about 19:34 GMT on Sunday.
Nottinghamshire Police said "extensive damage" was caused to the building, but nobody was injured in the blaze.
A joint investigation between the force and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has now concluded with arson given as the probable cause.
Sgt Matt Burgess, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Emergency services were called to an empty property in Balderton following reports of a fire overnight.
"Extensive damage was caused to the derelict building in Hawton Lane."
A fire service statement added: "Crews from Collingham, Newark and Worksop fire stations attended the incident.
"The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and has been passed onto police colleagues to investigate."
