Man charged with attempted murder over prison attack

Derbyshire PoliceA man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after an alleged hammer attack in prison.
Damien Bendall, formerly of Killamarsh in Derbyshire, is accused of attacking a fellow prisoner at HMP Frankland, in Durham, on 10 May 2024.
The 35-year-old attended Teesside Crown Court on 6 March but did not enter a plea.
He is due to appear next at the same court on 21 May.
