Plane spotters warned not to stand in road

Police have issued a warning to plane spotters who have flocked to see a major military exercise at RAF Waddington.

The exercise, called Cobra Warrior, is designed to train RAF personnel in tactical air war operations and attracts spectators from around the country.

Lincolnshire Police urged people not to stand between the traffic signals on the A15, describing it as "extremely busy with fast-moving traffic".

The force said if people continued to stand there, then they were at risk of being prosecuted.

The multinational exercise, taking place from 12 September to 3 October, includes Nato allies from Canada, Italy, Germany and the United States.

A post on Hykeham and Bracebridge Heath Police's social media reads: "For your safety and the safety of others, please do not stand in between the traffic signals on the A15 at RAF Waddington at any time – unless you are simply walking through without stopping.

"This area is extremely busy with fast-moving traffic, and stopping there creates a serious risk."

The force thanked people for helping with safety measures while they enjoy watching the exercise.
