Artefacts found by East West Rail route on display

Artefacts found by archaeologists near the planned East West Rail route have been put on display.

Items including pottery, coins and brooches will be shown at two pop-up museums in Bedford and Milton Keynes, hosted by Museum of London Archaeology.

Further digs will be carried out along the route, ahead of plans to have trains running between Oxford and Cambridge on the line.

On its website, East West Rail said "the events will give visitors a rare opportunity to see what everyday life was like more than 2,000 years ago".

Visitors to the free pop-ups will also be able to speak to archaeologists about excavations made in the area.

East West Rail is a planned line to connect Oxford and Cambridge via Milton Keynes and Bedford.

Trains between Oxford and Bedford were expected to be running from 2030.

Universal said the project was one of the reasons it had considered land in Kempston Hardwick, Bedfordshire, for its proposed UK theme park.
