Andrew Gibney says the sewage problems left him sick, stressed and depressed.

A man said he had to leave his flat six times due to faeces and urine backing up through his toilet, sewage water running down the walls, through the ceilings and dirty pools covering most of the floor.

Andrew Gibney said the "living hell" in his Livv Housing Group flat in Kirkby, has made him "sick, stressed and depressed" for the last 12 months and the ongoing leaks, floods and health risks are making his life impossible.

Livv Housing said it aware of Gibney's complaints and recognise the "distress this situation has caused".

In a statement it said "the health, safety and wellbeing of our customers is our priority, and we take issues of this nature very seriously."

Gibney said the drains have been blocked causing the toilet to overflow and back up flooding through the sinks, through the ceilings, down the walls, sewage water is seeping in everyday.

"It's happened nine times in the last 12 months. It's been disgusting. We've had airborne bacteria and also faeces all over my house on a number of occasions.

"My life is a misery I can't sleep," he said.

Gibney has made multiple reports to his landlord Livv Housing and said he was assured the party causing the problems with wet wipes would be contacted.

Livv Housing's maintenance teams have previously completed a deep clean and fixes to damaged areas of the property.

However, Gibney said the problems persist adding: "I've been moved out into temporary accommodation six times."

He added: "It's not just me, it's affecting people all up down the block and on the road here because the main drain is just filled up with these wipes."

"I'm getting sick, the smell is awful as well. I have carers coming around and they're sick with it as well."

A Livv Housing statement also said: "We are actively engaging with our customers and working across our teams to manage the situation appropriately, including exploring suitable options to prevent further issues and support the customer involved."
