A teenager who murdered a 14-year-old boy while he was on his way to play football with friends has been detained for at least 11 years and 10 months.

Ibrahima Seck was stabbed in the heart in the New Moston area of Manchester on 8 June but was able to name his attacker before dying in hospital.

The killer, who was also 14 at the time, was found guilty of murder after a jury heard he boasted in a rap video about having "done a murder".

Two other boys, then aged 14 and 16, were convicted of manslaughter and were detained for two years and four months and two years and 10 months respectively.

Ibrahima had been chased by the three teenagers to the Fairways Inn car park where he was fatally wounded by one of the 14-year-olds, as the other boys shouted encouragement.

He managed to stagger to a house on nearby Nevin Road to ask for help where he shared his attacker's name.

Manchester Crown Court previously heard that prior to the attack there had been a brief scuffle between one of Ibrahima's friends and one of the boys in the other group.

None of the teenagers can be named due to their age after judge Mr Justice Bright rejected an application from the media to overturn reporting restrictions.

Two women, 37-year-old Keri Dobson and Naomi Heavens, 39, were both convicted of assisting an offender by taking the teenagers away from the scene and providing a change of clothes.

The were each handed a 12-month prison term suspended for a year.

The judge told the killer: "This was not a planned event.

"It happened by chance and I agree you didn't intend to do grievous serious harm.

"You have expressed remorse."

During the trial, prosecutor Jamie Hamilton KC said Ibrahima was chased by the group before slipping and falling.

'Gang bullying'

One of the accused is then said to have knelt over him and stabbed him.

Ibrahima's mother Assa Ba and father Mamadou Seck previously told the BBC how the family had reported incidents of gang bullying to police.

On the day of his death, Assa said she warned her son not to play outside because she was worried about a group, who she said had been bullying Ibrahima and his family and friends.

"I told him 'no' but he said it was a Sunday and it was quiet. It was only 10 minutes," she said.

Ibrahima was described in a victim impact statement in court as "thoughtful and courageous" and having dreamed of becoming an actor.

In a statement shared after the the court hearing, his father said: "Every person in the world would like Ibrahima if they met him.

"He was smiling all the time, always wanting to help. He is an innocent person. Why Ibrahima?

"He was funny, caring, and hard-working. He was our best friend, and he looked after me.

"He was so smiley and always made everybody laugh. He was a good boy. They have not only killed Ibrahima but the whole family and all those people who loved him.

"Why would anyone do this to him? He did nothing wrong."

Det Ch Insp Tony Platten said: "The act of stabbing another person can take a life in an instant, as seen in this devastating case, but the ripple effects spread far wider and deeper than the moment of harm.

"I want to say thank you to Ibrahima's family for their continued strength and support throughout this investigation and trial – their bravery has been commendable."
