A 31-year-old has been arrested after a man was knocked unconscious in Leeds city centre.

A man in his 20s was punched by another man and taken to hospital with serious facial injuries, West Yorkshire Police said.

The assault happened shortly before midnight on 5 December on East Parade at the bottom of Greek Street, with the area said to be busy with traffic and pedestrians at the time.

Police said the arrested man, from Birmingham, was held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was later released on bail, with officers appealing for those who witnessed the attack to come forward.
