Multiple sheep were killed in the dog attack in South Normanton

Police have issued an appeal after multiple sheep were killed in a "reckless" dog attack in Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Rural Crime Team said as of 15:41 GMT on Saturday, four sheep had been killed, two had to be put down due to severe injuries and 20 more were injured following a dog attack in a field off Sporton Lane in South Normanton.

The policing team said it believed the attack happened shortly before the sheep were discovered at 11:20 on Saturday, as the animals were still warm to touch.

A spokesperson for the policing team said the attack had caused "significant emotional and financial loss", as well as "extreme suffering to the animals".

Police have asked anyone with information about the dog attack to contact the force.
