Travel disruption and closures as Storm Floris hits

Gusts of up to 70mph (113km/h) have been felt across Yorkshire

Winds of up to 70mph (113km/h) have been felt across North and West Yorkshire, as tourist attractions closed and some people have suffered travel disruption.

A yellow weather warning is in place for Storm Floris across the region until 23:59 BST on Monday.

Castle Howard, Forbidden Corner, Museum Gardens, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, Nunnington Hall and Nostell Priory were among the sites to announce they would be closed to the public on Monday.

Train travel has also been affected, with Northern operating a reduced service between Leeds, Ilkley, Bradford and Skipton and flooding on the line between Sheffield and Manchester Picadilly.

Both LNER and TransPennine announced services would not be operating north of Newcastle.

York Maze, Thorp Perrow Arboretum and Beningbrough Hall were among the other North Yorkshire tourist attractions to close, while the Yorkshire Arboretum closed at 12:30 BST.

Tuesday's Pickering Market was also cancelled, according to North Yorkshire Council.

Piglets Adventure Farm in York announced on social media it had made the "difficult decision" to not open to the public.
