Wolves fan 'can't wait' for 195-mile charity walk

A football fan who plans to walk more than 190 miles for charity has said he cannot wait to get started.

Manny Singh Kang and his son Jeevan will set off from Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton, on 27 February, aiming to reach St James' Park in Newcastle in under five days.

The pair will raise money for Dementia UK as they try to arrive in time for Wolves' match against Newcastle United on 2 March.

"We are ready to go now, we know it's gonna be hard, we know it's gonna be tough," Mr Singh Kang said.

Raising for Dementia UK was important, he said, because the condition "affects everybody yet no-one talks about it".

The charity provides specialist advice and support to help families affected by dementia and care for their loved ones.

Mr Singh Kang has completed multiple London marathons and has raised more than £260,000 for the charity since 2018.

Mr Singh Kang described the walk to Newcastle as an epic journey that would require focus and concentration.

"It's a mad bonkers challenge and it's gonna be exciting to do it [with Jeevan]," he said.

Sports presenter Suzi Perry who covers the Grand Prix will do a live-stream with the duo during their expedition, he added.
