Staff at a call centre are facing being relocated after its closure was proposed.

BT Group said the EE facility at Sunderland's Doxford Park could close so the company could "optimise office estate and unlock value as part of our modernisation programme".

A spokesperson said most of the 460 employees could relocate to other centres.

The decision would allow the company to "reinvest in spaces that better support our future ways of working and no customers or services would be affected", BT Group said.

A Communication Workers Union spokesperson said: "Our union is aware of the situation and is working on the ground to ensure the best possible outcome for our members."
