The reopening of a lifting bridge to traffic has been delayed until July.

Poole's Twin Sails bridge has been in the raised position since a fault was found during an inspection in mid-May.

BCP Council said investigation and remedial works would be ongoing "over the next few weeks" with the bridge remaining closed to all traffic.

The bridge across Holes Bay, which links the town centre with Hamworthy, had been expected to re-open by mid-June.

Poole Bridge at Poole Quay is still in use with fewer lifts taking place to help with the increased traffic diverting from the Twin Sails bridge.

The council said traffic lights on Blandford Road had also been changed to allow flow on the main road.
