Man in court accused of nine sex attacks in single evening

A 22-year-old man has been charged over nine sexual assaults across a single evening in Edinburgh.

Shashank Kasturi is accused of a series of attacks on women in the city's Stockbridge on 12 December.

Police launched an appeal for information after several women came forward to report incidents, after which, further assaults were also reported.

Kasturi made no plea at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to six charges of sexual assault, two charges of sexual exposure, and one charge of coercing a person to be present during a sexual activity.

He was remanded in custody and will appear again within the next eight days.
