Man admits manslaughter of father-of-three
Family handoutA man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following a crash in which a father-of-three was killed.
Sean Burlton, 28, died in the collision involving a grey Ford Focus, a black Vauxhall Insignia and a grey Volkswagen Touran in Tongue End, near Bourne, Lincolnshire, on 24 November 2023.
Following the incident on Counter Drain Drove, two men were charged with manslaughter and causing death by dangerous driving, and a third charge of conspiracy to commit actual bodily harm to another person.
Bailey Fitzgerald, 29, of Brownlow Crescent, Pinchbeck, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and conspiracy to commit actual bodily harm when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday.
He pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.
The pleas were accepted by the prosecution, meaning a trial for Fitzgerald will not be required.
Sam Johnson, 26, of Johnson Avenue, Spalding, entered not guilty pleas to the charges, and his case was adjourned for trial, which is due to begin on 1 September.
Five other defendants accused of conspiracy to commit actual bodily harm are to stand trial at the same time.
They are Sam Clift, 35, of Brownlow Crescent, Pinchbeck; Josh Copnell, 22, of Rose Lane, Pinchbeck; Max Prior, 21, of London Road, Spalding; Vanessa Gratton, 31, of West Parade, Spalding; and Scott Biggs, 33, of Spalding Common, Spalding.
All seven defendants were granted bail. Fitzgerald is due to be sentenced at the conclusion of the trial.
