A man has died after a lorry crashed off the A1 in Rutland, closing the road.

Leicestershire Police said they received reports that a lorry had left the road near Great Casterton, before stopping in a ditch shortly before 11:20 BST on Friday.

The force said the southbound carriageway between Stamford and Great Casterton remains closed and traffic is being diverted.

The northbound side was closed and has since been reopened, they said.

National Highways said all emergency services including an air ambulance attended the scene.

No other vehicles are thought to have been involved, the police said.
