An internationally acclaimed skatepark has raised more than £2,000 by putting on a pyjama party, to help build on-site accommodation for future champions.

Adrenaline Alley, based in Corby, Northamptonshire, has served as a training ground for Olympic BMX stars Charlotte Worthington,Declan Brookes and Kieran Reilly.

The venue said Friday's late-night fundraiser would support its ambition to create affordable accommodation and make it easier for riders, families, coaches and visitors from across the country and beyond to stay near the facility.

Its marketing director, Harry Tucker, said: "This project is about more than just accommodation, it's about creating opportunities.

"We want riders, skaters, and their friends and families to be able to fully experience everything Adrenaline Alley has to offer without the barrier of costly overnight stays.

"The support we saw at the pyjama party was incredible and proves how much people believe in this vision."

In all, the event raised £2,125 towards a target fundraising goal of £200,000 for the Rampside Rooms project.

'Affordable and accessible'

Adrenaline Alley was set up by Mandy Young after her son was attacked and had his beloved skateboard stolen.

It operates as a charity and has become the biggest indoor skatepark in Europe, training BMX world champions and attracting more than 120,000 visits each year.

Friday's event saw riders of all ages take part in a pyjama-themed night, with attendees competing for best-dressed prizes.

Jamie Hull, a world champion scooter rider who travels from Liverpool to train in Corby, said: "I'm so excited about the potential of Rampside Rooms because it's going to make a huge difference for riders like me and for everyone travelling to the park from further afield.

"Not only will it make trips more affordable and accessible, it will also help build an even bigger and stronger riding community by bringing people together for longer.

"Adrenaline Alley is already recognised as one of the best skateparks in the world, but having the opportunity to stay on site is going to take the whole experience to another level."
