Children can go free to Hull City Ladies games

Primary school children will be given the chance to watch Hull City Ladies FC play for free.

The club has said it will be giving away tickets to pupils for all home games this season.

It is hoped that the initiative will inspire the next generation of footballers.

Adrian Costello, the club's new manager, said: "It is a way of putting a little bit back, but also trying to assist in growing the game and getting people interested – in particular in women's football."

He added: "Hopefully those that aren't playing football may get interested in wanting to play. Some of those girls may then want to try out at the academy."

The club announced the news in a post on social media, which read: "Our ethos and ambition is to lead at the highest level of our game for OUR CITY, for our community."

It was founded in 2001 and will play home games in North Ferriby, having previously being based in Barton. It is not associated with Hull City AFC.

Earlier this year, a new management committee and staff was put in place at the club, with players hoping to enjoy a successful campaign.

Last month, player Sophie Tinson said there was a positive spirit within the group.

"All the girls, everyone [is] together. It's a very together club, so fingers crossed it's a good season," she said.

"The attitude from the girls has become really positive. You can tell from training we all get on together and that's what makes us Hull City Ladies."
