Work was continuing to clear the issue, National Highways said

A stretch of the M60 was closed due to flooding, causing rush-hour delays.

The anti-clockwise stretch of motorway between junctions 17 and 14 was already shut overnight for roadworks - but a burst pipe delayed its reopening earlier.

It was due to reopen at 05:00 GMT but National Highways said the issue was finally cleared shortly after 09:30.

Knock-on delays were also being caused to the M62 westbound.
