A man who won ITV's Tipping Point says there was "no way" he and his wife would have had their triplets through IVF without the cash prize.

Jamie McEvoy, who lives in Chorley, Lancashire, won £3,000 in the episode which aired last week but was filmed three years ago.

He and his wife Hayley, who met while studying at Manchester University, had a one-year-old son, Otis, at the time of production and were trying for another child through IVF.

The 30-year-old said: "I found out on the morning before filming that the latest had failed. At the time we didn't think we could afford another round."

He then told the show he would use the winnings towards further IVF so Otis could have a sibling.

"It was lovely filming the show in Bristol. I'd never been on telly before and [host] Ben Shephard made contestants feel confident – it was a fantastic experience."

The couple went through further rounds and treatments – spending £30,000 overall – before finding out that Hayley was pregnant through a home test in late 2024.

A scan three weeks later confirmed she was carrying triplets.

Hayley said: "Obviously I was only expecting one but the nurse's face dropped and she looked grey as she said there were three.

"They were very negative as they were warning they could be born premature or with defects - it was very morbid.

"I was so happy after all the failed cycles and then it just felt like it was all taken away and I was so gutted.

"I know it was very high risk but there was no need to put the fear of God into me."

As Jamie was away at the time, she kept the news to herself to avoid causing stress.

He said: "When I found out I was just shell-shocked, I don't think I spoke for a couple of hours.

"But Hayley was so positive that she didn't let any negativity or caution sway her," he said, adding that he would have struggled "if I hadn't had someone who shone that bright throughout".

She says her midwide was "so positive" and she ended up having a "very good pregnancy for triplets".

Jamie and Hayley says they've now "got a handle" on managing three babies and their three-year-old son

The babies – a girl called Nova and two boys Jasper and Billy – were born on 4 June 2025 healthy and well.

"At first I was so shocked and happy that they were all here and all healthy," says Hayley.

Since then, the regular feeding and wake-ups have led to "insane nights averaging two to three hours interrupted sleep", Jamie says.

But they've "really got a handle on it now".

He adds that Otis, who is now three, "has been incredible since we've had the babies, he absolutely adores them and always tries to help and he's such an amazing big brother".

In a social media post, Ben Shepherd said he was "so so thrilled for them all".

"We have loved making this show since it started in 2012 and moments and stories like this make it all the more special."
