An adult pantomime created a dress as a unique way to recycle the manifesto booklets from this year's election.

Music Theatre Guernsey (MTG) created the dress for the character of Dame Betty Bar-None in its retelling of Pinocchio.

It said 247 manifesto booklets were used to make the dress and more than 300 copies had been sent in by the community.

The dress was made by eight volunteers and took two-and-a-half days to create it.

The theatre group originally aimed to receive donations of 200 booklets but more than 300 were sent in

Writer and director Darren Alderton said: "I wanted something that was local, something funning - something that got people laughing.

"My aim is probably to put it into the Eisteddfod and the North Show to get some laughs."

Deputy Hayley Camp, who volunteers at the MTG and whose manifesto was used to make the hem, said: "A lot of people have accused the manifesto of being a waste of money, so anybody who can repurpose it is helping."

The show's closing night was 6 December but the theatre group plan to perform their take on Robin Hood next year.
