A pedestrian in his 30s is in a critical condition in hospital after being struck in Uppingham Road

Witnesses are being sought after a pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a Mercedes in Leicestershire.

Police were called to Uppingham Road in Thurnby, near the junction with Anthony Drive, just before 19:30 GMT on Thursday.

A silver Mercedes C Class struck the pedestrian, in his 30s, who police said was being treated in hospital and in a critical condition.

No arrests have been made.

Det Con Maddie Hayes, from Leicestershire Police's serious collision investigation unit, said: "I'd like to speak to anyone who saw what happened and particularly any motorists with a dashcam in their vehicle."
