Man arrested after ear slashed in pub brawl

A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after another man's ear was slashed at a pub.

The victim, in his mid-20s, was taken to hospital after an altercation at The Golden Ball pub in High Street, Bridgwater, at about 23:55 GMT on 12 December.

He suffered a laceration to the ear which needed treatment, police said. Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the bar at the time to come forward with information.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and assault causing grievous bodily harm. He has been bailed until 5 January 2026 while investigations continue.

The suspect has been described as a white man, with dark hair and short facial hair, who was wearing a black hooded top, black jogging bottoms, and black footwear.
