Police are appealing for anyone who knows the man in this CCTV image to come forward

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a woman was subjected to a racially aggravated assault at a shopping centre.

The victim had her niqab - a face veil that leaves the area around the eyes clear - pulled forcibly from her face at Houndshill Shopping Centre in Blackpool, said Lancashire Police.

A force spokesperson said the suspect was unknown to the victim, who is in her 30s and was visiting the resort at the time, and the assault had been completely unprovoked.

Police appealed for anyone with information about the attack, which happened between 16:00 and 18:00 BST on 25 October, to call 101 and quote log 1318 of 25 October or email: [email protected]
