A man has been arrested after reports another man had been attacked inside a pub in Cleethorpes in the early hours of the morning.

Officers were called to Grant Street at about 03:20 GMT following an "altercation" between two people, according to Humberside Police.

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to a head injury after it was believed he had fallen to the ground during the incident and then been punched and kicked. His injuries were not believed to be serious, police said.

A 40-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remained in custody while officers carried out investigations, a force spokesperson added.

A cordon was put in place at the time but had since been lifted, they said.

Officers said they were trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and appealed for witnesses to get in touch.
