Police are investigating the "unexplained" death of a man after a fire at a block of flats near Glasgow city centre.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to Carnoustie Street in the Tradeston area at about 19:20 on Tuesday.

The blaze was extinguished and the man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Police Scotland said inquires were ongoing and a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The fire comes days after the closure of Glasgow's Central Station, after flames spread from a vape shop through a B-listed Victorian building next door.
