Man charged with sexual offences spanning 40 years

A man is due to appear in court charged with multiple offences including 12 counts of rape over the past 40 years.

Duncan Edwards, of Swan Grove in Chappel, near Colchester, is also charged with various sexual and drug-related offences.

The 62-year-old is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Det Insp Lydia George of Essex Police urged anyone with information that could help the inquiry to come forward.
