Pensioner dies after being hit by car

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Carryduff, County Down.

The woman, who was in her 80s, was struck by the vehicle on the Saintfield Road on Saturday at about 18:25 GMT.

She was taken by ambulance to hospital, where she later died.

The road from the Carryduff Roundabout to the Comber Road junction was closed following the incident, but has now reopened.

Police have appealed to any witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.
