Man dies in Wakefield house fire

A man has died in a house fire in Wakefield.

West Yorkshire Police said officers were called to Stanley Road, in the Eastmoor area of the city, at about 21:20 GMT on Sunday by the fire service.

The force said a 62-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the house, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesperson said the property had been cordoned off while fire investigators work to establish the cause of the blaze, but there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
