Beer pumps fixed on TV show in memory of late father
Family"Every time I pull a pint with them I think of my dad."
Adam Crowe said two beer pumps which were restored by experts on BBC One programme The Repair Shop are a fitting tribute to his late father.
Adam, from Buxton, Derbyshire, said his father Peter, who died in 2007, bought the pumps from an antique shop and loved to serve home brewed beer in them.
They were repaired on the programme after not being used since the 1990s.
"Dad was a really gregarious guy, he liked people - he was the life and soul of the party," said Adam.
"If he liked the beer he had brewed, he would want people to try it.
"Guests would arrive and the first thing he would say would be 'have a pint of my latest'."
FamilyAdam said his wife Charlotte suggested he should contact The Repair Shop as the pumps were broken.
Their mechanisms were jammed and the wooden case that they were in had woodworm.
But presenters Will Kirk and Dominic Chinea took them apart, cleaned them, replaced the seals and hose and treated the woodworm.
They also cleaned and polished brass work on the pumps as part of the programme which was screened on BBC One on Wednesday.
"It was emotional on the day when I was there for the reveal but then watching it back was actually emotional as well because they turned it into a proper little tribute to my dad.
"Now they are there in my garage in my little pub corner and every time I pull a pint with them I think of my dad.
"They [the presenters] did seem genuinely enthusiastic about it when they first saw it and I got the impression from watching the programme that they enjoyed working on it," Adam said.
