Firefighters have extinguished a major blaze at a scrapyard in Glasgow after battling the flames for three nights.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said the alarm was raised at the business on South Street, in the Scotstoun area of the city, at about 23:23 on Friday.

Nine fire engines, two high-reach vehicles and specialist resources responded to the incident.

No casualties were reported and the fire is not being treated as wilful.

SFRS said one appliance remained in attendance dampening down hotspots on Monday morning.

Police closed South Street between Scotstoun Street and Edzell Street during the incident and it has since reopened.

One local resident captured dramatic footage of the fire at its peak, with explosive bangs emitting from an area engulfed in flames.

During the response a high volume water pump was used to draw water from the nearby River Clyde.

The public were advised to keep windows and doors closed if they could see smoke.
