Police name missing man believed to have entered river

A missing man police have been searching a river for is believed to be a 30-year-old named Kurtis Brook.

Brook, from the Cardigan area, is thought to have gone into the River Teifi in Ceredigion on Sunday.

Rescue teams first scoured an area in Cardigan after reports he had gone into the water at Castle Street at 05:15 GMT on Sunday.

Dyfed-Powys Police's Ch Insp Richard Yelland warned people against conducting their own river searches.

Police have been searching for the missing man since Sunday

"I am aware that well-meaning individuals have been proactively searching the waterway," he said.

"This brings unnecessary risk and may impact the ongoing search operation."

He said police would let people know if there were safe areas for the public to search.

The force said Brook's family was being supported.

A helicopter, drone and boat crew have helped in the search, along with crews from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and HM Coastguard.

An RNLI team was also deployed.
