Poll topper chosen as Guernsey representative

Edward Hill has topped the polls in Alderney for a second time in two months.

The poll topper in last month's general election has been selected as one of the island's representatives in the States of Guernsey.

He will be joined by Alex Snowdon, who retained his position as Alderney representative after receiving just four fewer votes than Hill.

Six candidates stood in the plebiscite election, which took place on Saturday, for the two positions.

The other current representative, Steve Roberts, was not re-elected.

There was a 43% turnout in the election, with 618 votes issued in total - including postal votes.
