A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man was found dead at a house in Greater Manchester.

The 48-year-old victim was discovered by emergency services in Higginshaw Lane in Royton, Oldham, on Sunday morning.

He was declared dead at the scene, in what police believe is an "isolated incident that poses no wider threat to the public".

A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

Police said extra officers would patrol the area during enquiries

Det Insp Rachel Smith, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "We understand the concern this incident may cause across the local community, but I would like to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident that poses no wider threat to the public.

"We are open to all lines of enquiry at this early stage of the investigation and we are conducting extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident."
