Broken down delivery van caught by causeway tide
RNLI SeahousesTwo people needed to be rescued from a causeway after their delivery van broke down and became surrounded by rising tide waters.
The pair were stranded on the Holy Island crossing in Northumberland shortly after 14:30 BST on Tuesday, where the sea was expected to reach 4.7m (15ft) at high tide and the water temperature was about 10C.
They managed to get the van close to the refuge hut where they waited for rescue by the Seahouses RNLI team.
Inshore lifeboat crew member Ollie Whelan said the rescue was a "positive outcome for a very dangerous situation" and the pair did the "right thing by calling for help as soon as they realised they were in trouble".
