A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a car crashed into an ambulance.

In a post on Facebook, Suffolk Police said the uninsured man "selfishly decided to drink and drive" ahead of the collision on the A1101 at Icklingham at 23:20 GMT on Sunday.

Officers from the Forest Heath team said the NHS East of England Ambulance Service vehicle was not on an emergency response, but was transporting a "patient/family member" to hospital.

Police added there were no injuries and that the 21-year-old man's "disgraceful actions will have to be answered for in interview when [he is] sober".
