Journalist Mared Parry said she found it "funny" that Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page were "really keen" to learn Welsh during a press interview.

Parry, 29, from Blaenau Ffestiniog, asked the actors about learning Italian for their new film, You, Me & Tuscany, which led to her teaching them some Welsh.

Now based in London, the presenter said the conversation flowed so well that it kept "bouncing back and forth naturally" to the point she eventually had to move the interview along due to time constraints.

"But as soon as it was cut," she added, "he [Page] was like, wait a second, can you teach me some more Welsh? He loved it. It was quite fun."

Parry, editorial content lead for Betches UK, said interviewing celebrities was a regular part of her role and gave her early access to films.

You, Me & Tuscany, which was released on 10 April and stars Bridgerton actor Page and American singer-songwriter and actress Bailey, known for her role in The Little Mermaid, is a "classic rom-com" according to Parry.

Despite a decade in the job, Parry admitted she still got "a bit of jitters" before celebrity interviews.

"You never know what you're going to get. Sometimes they're [the celebrities] nice and sometimes they're not," she said.

"Once I'm prepared, I'm usually fine."

She added: "I'm not a superfan who got a lucky break.

"I'm a fan of them as much as I am of any other actor I interview.

"But yeah, I mean, it was nice to chat to them both because I've never interviewed either of those before."

Parry explained how teaching the stars her language was not planned.

"I mentioned I was Welsh and they were really, really keen to learn a bit, which is really funny," she said.

During the interview, Parry taught them "werth y byd", meaning "worth the world".

After the interview wrapped, Parry said Page "was saying how much he loved it, so I taught him how to say a few more things" including phrases like "thank you," "goodbye" and "I love you".

"He got the pronunciation perfect the first time - which I'm gagged about," she added.

After posting the video online, Parry said she did not expect such a big response - though "a part of me knew people would enjoy it".

"Every time I mention anything about being Welsh, it always performs really well," she said.

"And I love this about Welsh people. We always love to back each other."
