Woman's death at block of flats being treated as murder
Police ScotlandPolice are treating the death of a woman at a block of flats in Glasgow as murder.
Officers were called to Kirkton Avenue in Knightswood at about 20:00 on Tuesday following reports of concern for a woman.
Joanne Newlands, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family is being supported by specialist officers.
A 49-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death on Wednesday, and was later released pending further inquiry.
Police Scotland said an "extensive" investigation was taking place to establish what happened in the days leading up to Joanne's death.
The force has appealed to anyone with information "no matter how insignificant" to come forward as soon as possible.
An online portal has been set up to encourage members of the public to submit information directly to officers.
Ch Insp Karen Cameron said: "We understand the significant impact this will have on the community and we would like to thank everyone for their help so far.
"There will be a continued police presence in the area as inquiries continue and anyone with any concerns can speak to officers."
