Family home devastated by 'e-bike fire'
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue ServiceA mother says her family has been left homeless after an e-bike fire caused major damage to their home in Leicester.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to the blaze in Lancaster Street just after 06:35 GMT on Wednesday.
The family of five, which included three older children, managed to escape the property but were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
The mother, who did not give her name, told the BBC the e-bike had been left on charge, which caused a "small explosion" before the fire took hold.
She said she managed to get everyone out of the house but they had lost all their belongings and would need to stay with relatives.

The fire service said two appliances were sent from Eastern Station and a third pump was requested from Central Station.
It said the fire started in the kitchen, adding the gas and electrics had been isolated.
A spokesperson said half of the property was damaged by the fire and 75% by smoke, with some damage to a neighbouring property.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue ServiceThe fire prompted a warning from the fire service for people not to leave devices charging unattended or blocking exits, and to check for safety markings to ensure the battery and charger meets safety standards.
The incident was closed just after 09:40.
