A man was struck by a car in St Peters Lane say police

A man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a car in Leicester, police have said.

A red Vauxhall Corsa struck the man in St Peters Lane "in the early hours of Friday" said Leicestershire Police.

The victim, who is in his 40s, remains in hospital, the force said.

No arrests have been made.

Det Con Emma Neeves from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We want to speak to anyone who was in the area in the early hours and who may have seen the car prior to the collision.

"We know the victim was speaking to someone else in the street in the moments before.

"We'd like to speak to this man, too – please come forward if this is you."
