A man has been arrested after the woman fell from the vehicle in Sheffield on Friday morning

A man has been arrested after a woman fell from a moving car in Sheffield, police said.

Police were called to Burncross Road in the Chapeltown area at about 06:30 BST on Friday after reports the woman in her 30s had fallen from the vehicle.

She remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries, South Yorkshire Police said, with her family informed.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody, a spokesperson added.

The road was closed from Fiveways Convenience Store Chapeltown to the Wharncliffe Arms pub to allow emergency services to work.
