Quad bike driven wrong way on roundabout in chase
GoogleA man has been arrested after a quad bike was driven the wrong way around a busy motorway roundabout while being pursued by police.
Officers were called the bike was spotted near Bowring Park Golf Club in Huyton at 16:10 GMT on Sunday, Merseyside Police said.
The driver failed to stop before driving the wrong way around the roundabout at junction five of the M62. A suspect was later found hiding in bushes by a police dog.
The 36-year-old, from Belle Vale, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, possession of a Class B drug, failing to stop and using a motor vehicle without insurance.
The quad bike was deemed not to be road legal and was seized.
"We know that criminals use off road vehicles such as quads, scrambler bikes and electric bikes, to transport drugs and weapons around Merseyside and often dangerously ignore the laws of the road in doing so," Insp Matt Farmer said.
"We will continue to deploy all resources to stop them in their tracks and bring offenders to justice."
