Man in critical condition after village stabbing
GoogleA man is in a critical condition after he was stabbed in what police described as a "very serious assault".
The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital after he was found with a stab injury to his body just before 10:00 GMT in Burley in Wharfedale.
A 30-year-old man was arrested from a nearby address on suspicion of attempted murder and two women, both 23, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. All three remain in custody, police said.
Officers said a cordon remained in place around Main Street and Iron Row.
Det Ch Insp Michael Cox said: "Multiple police enquiries are ongoing today into what has clearly been a very serious assault on a victim in Burley in Wharfedale."
He said he wanted to reassure residents that the incident was "isolated and targeted".
"We have all necessary resources in the area to investigate what took place," he said.
The force said police activity in the area would continue throughout the day and have asked anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the Main Steet area near Iron Row to get in touch.
