Cadbury's sweet tribute to Lioness goalkeeper

A sweet tribute to the England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has been unveiled by Cadbury ahead of the Lionesses starting the defence of their title at Euro 2025.

The 24-year-old Chelsea player has become England's number one for the tournament and was born in Birmingham.

To celebrate her achievements and her local link, Bournville-based Cadbury World has created a 30.5cm (12 inch) tall sculpture of goalkeeper gloves and a ball which took chocolatier Dawn Jenks 16 hours to make.

Ms Jenks said: "The creation required patience, precision, and a lot of passion - everything Hannah brings to the game, too!

"As a fellow Brummie, it means a lot to celebrate a local hero in such a unique - and tasty - way."

The sculpture took chocolatier Dawn Jenks 16 hours to make.

Hampton was born in the city before moving to Spain at a young age and previously played for Birmingham City's academy and Aston Villa.

The chocolate maker said her rise to the international stage was an inspiration to young athletes in the area.

"It's been a joy to create something that celebrates Hannah's talent whilst bringing some chocolatey football cheer," Ms Jenks added.

Euro 2025 starts on Wednesday with England's first game on Saturday against France.
