A Worcester DJ will get behind the decks for 24 hours to raise money for the hospice which he said was "magical" for his late brother.

Steve Descher will play non-stop Motown, Northern Soul and disco songs at The Feathers Sport & Music Lounge on The Tything, Worcester, from 14:00 BST on Saturday to 14:00 on Sunday.

The event is in aid of St Richard's Hospice, which supports more than 3,000 patients, family members and bereaved people in the county each year.

"They provided him with care, support and just basically kept him going," Descher said. His brother Peter died about five years ago.

"I'm doing it for my brother, but I'm also doing it for everyone else who's been touched by St Richard's."

The pub he is doing the challenge in closes at 02:00 on Sunday but that will not stop Descher, who will continue to live stream his set.

"People can still hear and see what's going on and make sure I haven't fallen asleep," he told the BBC.

"In the morning, we kick it off again until two o'clock, and I sleep all day Monday."

He said the early hours alone were the part he thought would be hardest.

"Up until 2am, people will be there and dancing and drinking, but I'm totally motivated to complete this challenge."

"It's easier than a parachute jump or wing walk."
